Cover Supervisors
Non-teaching staff who work within Secondary Schools. No formal teaching qualifications are required however to be educated to degree level is a benefit but a good level of Maths and English is essential as is experience of working with young people (preferably within the classroom). As a Supply Cover Supervisor, you are expected to supervise a class on a short term basis without the presence of a Teacher, The role of a cover supervisor is not to engage in 'specified work' but to classroom manage, maintain discipline and ensure that pre-prepared work is completed by pupils.
To work in a school as a Cover Supervisor you must be registered with the EWC as a School Learning Support Worker.
